I know - I know - no posts since before Nationals! Well, when we got to California we had so many technical difficulties and not much time to work them out - we finaly gave up. Since we've been back things have been crazy trying to get back to every day life. School, homework, dance, getting ready for Christmas and SNOW this past weekend! So, please forgive me and my parents.
So - the real news - I placed 3rd Runner Up at Nationals! Quite an honor since the competition was so tough (there were so many great girls!). Having never been to Nationals I had no idea what it would be like. It's BUSY! From the first day of check in and Optional Rehearsals to the last day of rehearsals and Finale night it is go, go, go! Meeting all the great girls from across the U.S. was so cool, Disneyland was fabulous (can you say Space Mountain twice?) and the Hollywood Tour was great (hanging out with my new pageant bestie Miss Oregon - Maddie Monlux), but making it to Top Ten and then to Top Five my FIRST time at Nationals - well that the BEST! These are memories I'll treasure! I really hope to get a chance to spend time with the girls I met - maybe Nationals in 2011?!!!
I think the best lesson I learned from Nationals is pretty much the same lesson I learned from State - actually two lessons - believe in yourself and your dreams and DON"T pay attention to gossip. At State and Nationals a few girls were saying if you don't win any Optionals you won't win or do well - and that is so untrue. Just make sure to have FUN!!
That's all for now - I promise to update more soon!
Until then - Lots of Hugs, Kisses, Chocolate and Love,
Kailee

Junior Miss Loudoun County

Wow - Is it Monday already? This weekend went by so quick! My brother had a Water Polo Tournament and I participated in the Junior Miss Loudoun County pageant. I have competed in this pageant before, but never won or even placed. This year all that changed! I won Casual Wear and Overall High Point Queen (they don't double crown at this pageant). I am still in shock! It was even more fun, because my friend Yasmeen was in it, too! She and I met last year at the Virginia state pageant for NaMiss. She was 2008 Cover Girl for Pre-Teen. We have been good friends ever since - especially since not everyone "gets" pageants.
The rest of the weekend was spent inside (boo, since the weather was so great) watching my brother play Water Polo. He is almost 13, but they had to play against Highschool Junior Varsity players. Considering they competed against older, bigger guys - played with a larger ball AND took 3rd place - that is cool! I am very proud of my big brother.
Well, in 12 days my family will be in sunny California for NaMiss Nationals. So much to do before then!!! It is very hard to concentrate on school! But I have to since I have a Science Fair project idea I need to submit next week along with the questions I want answered.
Stay tuned ----
Hugs, Love and Chocolate,
Kailee
PS: Yes, same dress from NaMiss state, and it looks like I have grown. Time to swap out crinolins!

October Events

It's Sunday November 1st and there are only three weeks left until Nationals!! I am so excited! My mom and I are trying to get prepared, but there have been so many other activites - we are barely home! Last night was the coolest! I got to trick or treat at the White House!! I even shook President Obama's hand! We didn't get a photo of that, because they were pushing us through so fast (security reasons)that my dad couldn't position the camera quick enough. I wore my crown and sash and the president commented on it - and then when we told him it was the real deal - he congratulated me! We got to go because my school was one of 11 in the metro area that was selected. I feel very lucky! Besides that I have been working at Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue's haunted house SLASHBURN - it is a special event to raise money. I have been outside (selling concessions), behind the scenes (helping with the make-up and costumes), and even inside as one of the "undead". Earlier in October I also road in the Knights of Columbus Day parade on one of the fire trucks, and worked at the Open House. At the Open House I greeted people and even worked the 9-1-1 training booth showing little kids what to do during an emergency. In the community where I live I was a greeter at Village Fest and got to work the Halloween Party at the recreation center.

That's all for now - more when my mom let's me catch my breath!

Smiles, Love and Laughter,

Kailee

Welcome......

Welcome! I am Kailee Horvath and I am the 2009 National American Miss Virginia Junior Pre-Teen Queen. I am so excited to hold this title and so far am having a great year. As the year progresses I will share with you all the fun things going on with me as Miss Virginia. So far I have been giving a great deal of time to the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. They were the recipient of over half of the stuffed animals that I brought home to to share from the state pageant. I presented them at the first business meeting in September. Since then I have worked at their Fall Open House - demonstrating "dialing 9-1-1" to kids and greeting visitors. Later in the month I also road on a firetruck for the Columbus Day parade and currently I am working weekends for their haunted house "Slashburn". That's it for my first post. Pictures will be up soon - and more details of what's been going on since my crowning in August! Thanks for visiting!
